Ortho-Bionomy® is a gentle system of healing that reminds our body of its ability to restore balance. Through positioning, we remind the body how to self correct, by feedback through the nervous system.
It’s hard to explain. What does this mean!? It means the practitioner (me), works with you to find places and positions that relieve the body of pain or patterns that aren’t functional. Forward head position. Bent over hunched shoulders. Aching feet. The goal of Ortho-Bionomy® is getting your own body to “figure out” what’s making you hurt, or interfering with function, and find a more functional place. With the therapist’s help.
Founded by British Osteopath Arthur Lincoln Pauls, Ortho-Bionomy® is built on the positional release work of American Osteopath Laurence Jones. Pauls used gentle movements, comfortable positioning, compression and subtle contact. This encourages the patient’s own healing mechanisms. The result is seemingly effortless pain and tension relief, natural re-alignment, relaxation and a deep sense of well-being.
Ortho-Bionomy® requires extensive hands-on practice and feedback. My hands become intelligent and sensitive as I open up to feel and sense what your tissues may need to find their center.
Ortho-Bionomy® practitioners are certified by the Society of Ortho-Bionomy® International (SOBI). Ortho-Bionomy® originated and is grounded in osteopathic medicine, and also incorporates intuition and energetic approaches. Bodywork is an “art” and a science.
